During a weekend retreat Ally, a young New Yorker, has an encounter with an acquaintance.

Shot in black-and-white, this story told partly in flashbacks with excellent acting focuses on a cleaning woman and a teacher. She displays self-destructive behaviour as a result of a terrible tragedy. He is unhappy, has suppressed feelings and incessantly phones the council about all kinds of trifles. Where she seeks extremes, including excessive sex and lies, he is introverted. When these two damaged souls meet at work, a bond results and they go traveling together. But their inability to communicate breaks the vulnerable relationship and this again has tragic consequences.

It’s past midnight and Dani Ferris is a woman all alone, away from home. A woman who’s tired as hell, wanting nothing but a little tease of digital debauchery before shutting her eyes. A woman not even remotely prepared for the roller coaster of emotions she’s about to ride with a front-row seat. 　　Sleep? Nope. Tonight is a night for friends, lovers, enemies, frenemies?, little guns, bigger guns, body parts, body fluids, body solids, love, hate, life, death, and things a hell of a lot more super than natural. A night Dani will never forget. And neither will he.

A group of very different people set sail on an old warship. The passengers include a senator with his son, a newly-wed couple, a mysterious old man, a group of sex workers and a gang of violent criminals. At first the aggressive behaviour of the thugs and their leader is directed at the first class passengers, but then more and more indiscriminately against the rest of those on board. David Hyde Pierce, playing an alien (credited as infinity-cubed in the opening credits), narrates a courtship in a late-20th century American city as an extraterrestrial nature documentary. The relationship "footage" is played straight, while the voice-over (with its most often wildly inaccurate theories) and elaborate visual metaphors add comedy.

Obsessive scientist Nathan and his lover, the naturalist Lila, discover Puff: a man born and raised in the wild. As Nathan trains the wild man in the civilized ways of the world, Lila fights to preserve the man’s natural state. In the power struggle that ensues, an unusual love triangle emerges.
